Becoming a Vampire

  Becoming a Kindred of the Blood may be very tempting to a lot of you, but not all of you can be blessed with this eternal gift. You must first prove yourself worthy of the Embrace. Proving yourself may be extremely difficult or extremely easy, depending on your personality and mortal wisdow. To be accepted, you must learn to act like a vampire. Do not be a fool, do not be incompetent, and do not embarrass our race (a few exceptions may be given if a childe is proven completely insane, I have met a few who are unable to think straight -- they are, however, still as much Kindred as I). Some hints on proving yourself worthy are to speak in a way that shows manners and proves you respectable. As a Kindred, you do not worship anyone. You may be impressed by them, but that is a totally different feeling and way of behaving. The rules that goes for mortals are even stronger for one of the Blood, so be sure to know our rules well. A true Kindred would never openly adore a human, so becoming a groupie of a person of higher Combat is not even thinkable.

  But being one of the Blood is not only positive. Eternal life often results in torment. A craving for blood. And so forth. Other Kindred call us mad, they claim that we are insane. Perhaps we are? But if that is the case, our insanity only improves our wisdom. I once met a Ventrue who sad that I had a multiple personality disorder. I wonder if he was right? Ah well, it's not as if I will ever see him again, he is no longer a part of this world.

  I'm getting a bit too personal now, so let me go back to the Embrace. After you have proven yourself worthy, I will either personally Embrace you, or have another Kindred of the clan do it. The Embrace will always take place at our base. Along with the Embrace comes a short chant to welcome you to the land of the Dead. Call it a ritual if you want, I just call it a preparation. Do not speak during this short chant. Just wait for the chosen Kindred to give you the Kiss.

  The chant goes as follows:
Allow me to empty thy veins
Allow me to clear thee from ignorance
Allow me to bring upon thee the Sight
Allow me to give thee thy share of the Blood
That is where the Embrace comes, and you are, from that point and on, a creature of the Night.
