Primogen - Information

The Primogen function as a royal council of the Followers of Malkav. They are all Sworn of Malkav, but some of their responsibilities overarch into other other groups than the specific one they belong to. This, however, is not all coincidence. The Primogen work to keep all Sworn synchronized, and makes the clan function as one single unit to the outside world and its neverending threats.

Generally, all Primogen are on the same step of the hierarchal ladder, but when going into detail, you'll notice that some may be slightly above the others. After all, there must always be someone out there, making sure you're doing your job.

The seat of a Primogen is not one you can just take. It requires an invitation from a Lord, or from a Primogen with a Lord's approval. They are only offered to the most loyal of members and the majority of the clan will more than likely never get such an invitation. But still, you as a regular clan member can of course be a part of the decision making, contributing with your own opinions and ideas. Just because you're not a Primogen doesn't mean we don't respect you. The Primogen aren't an evil club of elders, after all--hell. . .most of them are still human--but they are here to make sure that the clan functions and that it is a good place to be for our other members.

Now, let's start breaking down the different Primogen positions, and explain what exactly they all do.

  Seneschals
  Jury Primogen
  Lead Updaters
  Site Primogen

  Primogen of War

  Masters of Events
  Quest Primogen

  Seneschals
The Seneschals are the highest ranked members of the Sworn of Mysteries. Their main duty is to handle the Archbishops. They are to make sure that they do their jobs, they are the ones who receive applications for the position, and they are the ones who validate such applications and decide whether or not the person should get the title. Other than the Archbishops, you are also to make sure that the other Primogen of the Sworn of Mysteries are doing their job. So yes, you may be forced to boss around a bit with the following Primogen: Jury Primogen, Masters of Events, Lead Updaters, and Site Primogen.

At the same time as you overlook the higher ranked members of the Sworn of Mysteries, you are also there to assist them in case they are in need of such. You are expected to help the Jury Primogen in the voting on On Trialists, as well as you may from time to time have to step in and help the Lead Updaters with their duties. In other words, you are to do a little bit of everything, while at the same time, you are to make sure that the others do what they have signed up to do.

So, who watches over the Seneschals? The answer to that one is simple: The other Seneschals and the Lords.

_____

  Jury Primogen
The main duty of a Jury Primogen lies within the On Trialists--the new applicants to the clan. First of all, they are to make sure that a new member has put in a correct application and that he meets the requirements. Second, they are to send these new members five clan related questions. To pass the On Trial period, the applicant must answer these questions correctly. And finally, at the end of a new member's On Trial period, the Jury Primogen are to vote on this person, IN or OUT. Along with the votes, they are also to make sure that the member has met the post requirement, and post details regarding their behaviour and how they have been the first couple of weeks in FoM.

The easiest way to keep track of an On Trialist is to talk to them a bit in-game, if possible, and to check the content of their posts. The way they speak and interact with others is a good way to determine their intelligence and personality.

  Lead Updaters
Just as the Event Keepers, this group of Primogen have responsibilities in several groups of Sworn. It is your duty to keep an eye on all four types of Updaters; Updaters of the Axe, Master Updaters, Apprentice Updaters, Oracle Updaters. But with the last group--the Oracle Updaters--the Site Primogen share your responsibility. Should they fail to meet their quota, you are to replace the least active one. There are some exceptions to this, however, and you should take a closer look at the title descriptions for the different Updaters within the
Sworn of Malkav information pages.

Along with keeping track of the Updaters, you are also responsible for the different point values. When updating this list, I want you to post a new topic with the items listed under their appopriate category. Should you be adding a new item that does not fit into any of them, then you can make up a new one. Also, when it comes to fairly new items or items that drastically change in value, I want you to put the amount of points below the current market price.

If you get time over, you are of course free to do some updating yourself. Just don't let this get in the way of your other duties, and remember to check the different Sworn forums to answer any questions the other Updaters might have.

_____

  Site Primogen
Your main responsibility is to look after the Oracle Updaters. But apart from just keeping an eye on them, I also expect you to help them with the same task as they have been given. More information on this can be found in the
Sworn of Mysteries - Information page and a pinned topic in the Site Updates forum. However, there are some optional tasks other than helping out with updating On Trialists. These are to write scripts and such for the Updaters and other Sworn members to use to make their jobs easier. These can be anything from point-calculating scripts to event databases.

  Primogen of War
First of all, you have a resonsibility in making sure that the Warlords do their jobs, and partly also the Generals. For more information on their duties, check the
Sworn of the Axe - Information page. Should they not meet their quotas, you have the right to rid them of their position and, if necessary, replace them with someone else.

While Warlords are permitted to call for on-the-fly mini wars and stuff like that, you will have the final word when it comes to bigger tournaments and wars. Any preparation war must have your approval (or another Primogen's approval, should the Primogen of War not be available at the moment, seeing as how these decisions must be made as fast as possible). Also, along with the Warlords, it is your duty to decide where clan PKing trips are to take place; F2P, P2P below the gate, P2P Mage Bank, etc..

  Masters of Events
The Masters of Events are there to first of all look after the different groups of Event Keepers; Event Keepers of the Axe, Twilight Event Keepers, Oracle Event Keepers. In other words, this is an example of a Primogen position that overarchs into several groups of Sworn. However, you are not alone in doing so. You watch over the Oracle Event Keepers together with the Archbishops, you watch over the Event Keepers of the Axe together with the Warlords, and you watch over the Twilight Event Keepers together with the Primogen of Finance. But overall, you have the main responsibility over these groups, and you are to make sure that they meet their quota.

Should they fail to meet their quota one period, you are to inform them about this, reminding them of their duties. Should they fail to meet it twice in a row, you are to rid them of their position and, if necessary, assign a new person for the position. More details on the quotas can be found within the different title descriptions on the Sworn of Malkav information pages.

Optionally, you can of course also make events of your own. But this is not your main duty, so should that result in you not getting time to look after the Event Keepers, then you should wait until you have more spare time.

Just as the Event Keepers of the Axe have priority to well suited event times in times of war, you too have the right to cancel or postpone a coterie event or other clan event should you feel so is needed. For an example, a war may be coming up and you'd like the weekend before the war to include some kind of war practice, but the schedule is fully booked. If so, you can contact the keepers of those events and tell that they have to re-schedule.

  Quest Primogen
The Quest Primogen is in charge of the FoM Quests. Every two weeks, I want each Quest Primogen to have a suggestion for a new Quest ready in the Primogen forum (turn to the Sworn of the Dying Light forum when looking for ideas and suggestions, but don't reveal future quests in here, giving Updaters and other Twilight members an unfair advantage towards the other members). The Quest does not have to be fully planned out, but I want an overall idea and at least some structure on how the idea is to be followed through in form of a Quest. Not all of these quests will end up on the site, but it's always good to have something to reach for when in need of an interesting site update.

Once in a while I might also ask of you to create a complete quest out of your mock-ups. The creation of this quest will then take the place of the idea for the next two weeks. So you won't have to both write a full quest and come up with an idea for a new one.
