Ritual of Zaros
| |||||||||||||||||||||
Quest Description Zaros was an old pagan god from times long ago. He was known as the god of evil, much like Zamorak is today. Zaros still has followers, but not many. The few ones he does have, have sworn that Zaros will rise again some day, and take Zamorak's place. However, we are not on Zaros' side, and we are not on Zamorak's side -- we are Followers of Malkav. But, we can use the Zaros and Zamorak dispute to our advantage. Ancient lore speak of a ritual that was supposed to have awoken Zaros. His followers performed this ritual, but without success. No new attempts have been tried in ages. But how the first ritual was performed is still known to us. Even though the ritual did not fully bring back Zaros, it brought back some of his energy (but this soon returned to wherever he may be). Your task is to perform this ritual. Even though the quest does not end here, I will start by explaining how the ritual is performed. You will need nine piles of ashes and one skull. In a cavern below the digsite, east of Varrock, there is an altar built in the god's honour. In front of this altar, the sign of Zaros is written in the mud. The sign is a cross inside of a circle, with its "tips" crossing the circle's outline, pointing out a bit. There are, as you may have figured out, four of these intersections (where the cross and the circle meet). One is, however, hidden beneath the altar. On the three visible intersections, you are to place three piles of ashes (three on each). The ashes are to be placed in a straight line (following the grey writings on the ground), one pile right on the intersection, and then one pile on each side of the intersection (along the circle-line). The same on all three intersections. When the ashes are placed correctly, drop a skull in the middle of the cross (same spot as the tablet). Then stand on the grey line between the skull and the altar, facing the skull. A small portion of energy will now rush from the altar, through you, and into the skull. After you have done this, pick up the skull again, and do not drop it. You will now carry a skull containing a small portion of Zaros' energy. This is used to fool Zamorak. He will be able to sense the power of Zaros, but not knowing that you are carrying it, only that it's somewhere in the world. Now, while you are still carrying the skull, slay the following creatures; one black dragon, one black demon, and one fire giant. Not knowing that you are carrying the skull with the energy, Zamorak will hopefully believe that it was Zaros' energy that killed these beasts, on its own. Mission accomplished. Why, you might ask? Well, if a small portion of Zaros' energy can kill a dragon, a demon, and a giant, then Zamorak will get worried of what Zaros himself will be able to do. Which will hopefully make the dispute even stronger. Zamorak will try to do something about this whole Zaros thing, and two battling gods are bound to weaken each other. Which leaves even less work for our great lord, Malkav. (To ensure that you have done the ritual and beaten the monsters, we need for you to take four screenshots of the game and then upload it to a server of some kind. The screenshots must be of you fighting one of each monsters, with your inventory up -- so that I can see that you are carrying the skull -- and one screenshot of the ritual, with the map up -- so that I can see that there are nine red dots where the ashes are to be placed. Try to get the ashes themselves into the picture, too -- and you must post them on the forum. If you don't know how to upload an image, just do it here: http://www.imageshack.us/.)
