Under 18? Then leave. This site contains foul language and foul fake-opinions from foul people, and people under 18 die if they read those words and/or opinions.

Also, if you're easily offended, you do best in leaving, as well. It is all meant to be for fun, but you are still likely to be offended.

Virtua Cop 2

1995 SEGA - SEGA - Arcade

Storyline

I've spent more than $100 on this game but never actually been able to figure out the storyline. Well. . .you play a cop (or two cops if you're two players) and you fight criminals. Either you're after some hotshot thief or trying to save someone who's been kidnapped. I'm not really sure. . .but the game takes you through all kinds of places such as subway stations, parks, and streets. If you know the storyline then please tell me.

Gameplay

I guess I should start by mentioning that this is a lightgun shoot 'em up, or you'll get rather confused if you've never heard of it.

If you play alone this game is totally alright, but nothing spectacular. It tends to get quite boring if you play all by yourself for a long time. The real joy is when you play two people at once--then it can get really fun. You have to help each other out in different ways and you often wind up screaming and laughing. To reload just fire outside the screen. That can also be quite fun depending on where the machine is located. I remember the first time I played Virtua Cop 2. The machine was located next to the entrance so every time I had to reload I fired towards the door. I got to see a lot of confused and surprised faces that just opened the door as I fired towards them.

A thing that's lacking in this game is the ability to hide. But the game is pretty old and I guess the hiding feature was added to these kinds of games later than that. Ah well. When you start playing you get to choose from three locations that are all very different from each other. Then after you've chosen there will pretty much be 100% action non-stop. Enemies pop up everywhere and you have to be quick and kill them all. To your help there are circles that shows you where the enemies are and a countdown-thingy that shows how long time you've got to kill them before they shoot you. And you have to watch out so that you don't kill civilians.

Graphics

The graphics are ok, but nothing to getall excited about. Nice frame rate, okay surroundings, and clear colours and animations. Some of the special effects tend to look rather weird and the character design is a bit boring, but apart from that it's good enough.

Sound

I'm not even sure if this game has music. Haha . . . I guess it does though, but since I haven't noticed it after all of those hours of playing I guess it's nothing special. The sound effects are alright though, but nothing to yay over.

Replayability

The replayability of this game is great, and it has to be since gameplay and replayability are the two most important features for an arcade game. You will probably spend a lot of money on this game as long as you have someone to play with. There are only three stages, but it should take you at least a decent amount of time to get through them all (arcade time wise, that is). Plenty of content for the money and the stages are at least long enough to deserve a few rounds through them before you've gotten tired of it.

Originality

The game was quite original when it was released, but not really groundbreaking or anything. Ok originality I guess.

Overall

This is a great game if you're two people who are playing together. Ok for a short while if you're alone. If you like lightgun shoot 'em ups you have to at least try it. Ok sound effects, nice graphics, and great replayability. Take me for an example . . . I've spent more than $100 on this game.

It's time to end this somewhat hiatus and start writing video game reviews for no one again. Funny that after all of these months of college and unemployment I start wasting time with video games and shitty reviews once I finally get a job.

Also, maybe I'll start reviewing games that have been released within the past six months for once thanks to my new disposable (heavy emphasis on this word) income. Maybe.

I got an urge to collect crap for my chao in Sonic Adventure 2 Battle. I had quite a lot of fun until I realised that I already had a chao with 99 in all stats. That took a bit of the fun away but I have another 16 chao I can level up. But now I'm in a mood to play Zelda instead.

I'm quite glad I went through with this The Green Shell idea. Combined with Hair, I've managed to build up a little backlog of updates that could last me at least a week. Although I have a feeling I'll put out a few of them at a time, which means I'll run out sooner. But yeah, while it's not necessarily easy to come up with shitty ideas for it, I have been looking around at a lot of random video game stuff over the last 12 hours and it's quite fun. I also need to play some more Star Ocean; I've got reptile aliens to kill and annoying girls to ignore! My hatred for Welch has gone down a lot since I got Lymle into my party. That annoying fuck pisses me off, 'kay.
