- Introduction
This game was released a few years back. I first saw it at my friend’s house. I got addicted too it. As soon as I got home I had to get it. But as is the case with all of my video game acquisitions, it didn’t come easily. My parents did not want to buy it, or any other games. A case I’m sure you and many other games suffer from. Eventually I got it, I loved it. Definitely a hit, I still play it to this day.

Gameplay
The Gameplay in Armored Core is very innovative and enjoyable. Basically, you are an AC (a mech type robot, but smaller) mercenary for hire. You receive missions such as seek and destroy, find this and get out, or annihilate all enemies. When you enter a level you are automatically in a fully immersive area, you can turn right around and go anywhere in this area (although that sometimes isn’t a great idea because of some factors included in some missions like time limits). Your vision is place directly behind and above the AC and your view changes nicely as you turn (something that annoyed me in other games like Mario 64). What I especially liked about the gameplay is that you get different amounts of money for each mission you complete, and then in between missions you get the chance to upgrade or add on to your AC, making it better and stronger, and making things more fun. Armored Core has a very fun 2 player mode in which two ACs, that can have their colors changed or be customized before battle (you can even load Acs you have created in the 1 player mode. In the 2 player battle, you are placed in one of many levels you can select from, and are pitted against each other in a battle to the death, with a sometimes annoying time limit that makes the person least damaged the winner. Overall, this is a very enjoyable game.
- Story
The story in Armored is nothing fancy, but holds the game together without ruining it. Basically you are a mercenary for hire, and that is what you are doing, being hired. Every Mission is a job you have been hired for. The story progresses some with every mission, leading to the end. It didn’t have a whole lot of depth or anything, but it sufficed.
- Sound
The sound in this game was also quite good. The Background music was good, a little rock a little dark, fit in nicely and created a nice atmosphere. The sound effects also fit nicely, not too rough that they seriously affect the game, but sharp enough to create a nice effect when you shoot, and occasionally, when you explode. Some other sound effects being the normal beeps and clicks when shifting through menus or changing guns. And of course, the shrill scream and BOOM of a dying man in an AC.
- Graphics
Boy, this is a cliché now but, the graphics in this game were well done (it had to be done, sorry). Nice graphics that were good enough to give the game a 3D effect, and, what I was happy about, they didn’t ruin the game! All enemies, and even your AC, which you pretty much see at all times with the default view, were very detailed, showing all the little crevices and armor plates on them. The levels were also good, I was too busy scoping around corners and stealthing around having a good time to let the backgrounds have a major affect, but, they were good too.
- Enjoyability
Now we come to, what is to me, the most important category, telling you that the game was very enjoyable, or not very enjoyable at all. Luckily, in this games case, it was very enjoyable. I liked every aspect of this game. From the missions, to the sound, to the custom ACs, to the two player mode, this game is definitely one to try. I played this for hours on end, much to my mom’s distress.

- {~~Other Important Things~~}
Replay Value: Very High
The replay value in this game was very high due to the fact that you can continue playing and upgrading even after you complete the game, and of course the 2 player mode adds to the replay value. Value: 9
- Challenge: Average
This game isn’t overly hard, but it can be. The first few levels are very easy, as with many games. Then as you move forward in the game you will have more to do. Also, your money management is a hard thing to do. There is much to buy, and not enough money to do it all, use it sparingly. An average game in difficulty, but it will require much skill.
- Learning Curve: 10 Minutes
This game wont take you too long to learn, the controls are very simple, and with time you will learn all the different strategies, or even develop your own. Curve: 1 minute for controls, 1 day or so for strategies
- Buy or Rent: Buy
Buy. Simple as that. This is not a game you just want to rent, believe me. There is much to do in this game. The replay value will keep you going for a long time, and the game itself is long as well. It will provide you with hours of gaming fun. Definitely worth a buy.
Overall this is a game you want to play. If you haven’t already, pick it up, you’ll like it. Plus, it isn’t exactly a new game, so it will be quite cheap. This one has my patented seifer seal of approval.
8/10
