Storyline

I have always been wondering that . . . Well . . . This is the storyline out of my point of view.
You play one of the two mountain climbers (I've forgotten their names) who are supposed to climb an icy mountain. The goal of the climbing seems to be to grab on to a big flying bird of prey. Maybe it's a special bird . . . I don't know. And on the journey to the top you are supposed to rescue the mutated vegetables that are lost in the snowy weather. Something like that.

Gameplay

The controls in this game are very simple. You can run in two directions and jump. The mountain climbers are very easy to control. You feel a little locked in the air, but that's just a part of the game. Due to the locking it can sometimes be a little hard to jump from one level to another. But like I said, it's a part of the game and to be a good Ice Climber player you have to be good at jumping. Because jumping is the main challenge in this game. Oh! I forgot about one move you can do. The hammer-slam! You will meet enemies throughout the game who's only intentions are pure evil! Well, not really. They are only walking or flying randomly across the screen, and you can either move away from them or hit them with the hammer.

Graphics

The graphics are very simple. No advanced stuff but you can still see what is what. The enemies are few but cool, and the vegetables are just dope. A big plus for that.
All of the surfaces are also drawed in certain ways. So it's easy to tell the difference from slippery ice and solid snow. Which is good.

Sound

Well, what can you expect from a NES game from 1984? Blippy sound effects, but it's NESy soundeffects. And they remind me of the good old times. So I don't complain. New "hip" and modern gamers might not like it though . . . But they are just stupid.

Replayability

There are a total of 32 levels in this game, and you can choose any of them right away. So the challenge isn't really to see all the levels, but to see all the vegetables! Every stage contains new and interesting vegetables. And that's cool. If you play with a friend (both at the same time) you can have lots of fun with this game. If you play all by yourself it tends to get a bit boring after a while.

Originality

This game is made out of originality. From what I know there aren't many games even similar to this one. That's cool, and in my oppinion everybody have to check this out.

Overall

A nice two player game with simple sounds and graphics that can last for long. If you're alone it's only fun for a few hours though.
But this is the kind of game that you can take out and play whenever you don't have anything to do, because there is no complicated intro you have to view or something like that. Just 100% playing.
