Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee

2001 Oddworld Inhabitants - Microsoft - Xbox

''Munch's Oddysee'' is the third installment in the Oddworld series. And this is a game you will learn to love, I guarantee it!

General Summary

The gameplay in this game is very good. If you are at a bad angle, against a wall for example, the view would be cut off in a normal game, but in ''Munch's Oddysee'', it adjusts itself to be perfect at all times. The buttons are also pressure-sensitive, so you can sneak and run with the same button, all depending on how hard you press it. You can also switch between Munch and Abe by pressing a certain button, which is also helpful. If you are in an area where you think you might not do well, you have the option to Quicksave it. When you quicksave it, when you die, you can Quickload it and you will start back from where you last Quicksaved it. It is also funny because the Fuzzles won’t listen to Abe because they are afraid of him and the Scrubs and Natives won’t listen to Much because they just think he is funny and laugh at him. So you have to use different characters for different parts. There is also a wide range of enemies. You can dispose of them a number of ways also. You can try to defeat them yourself if you think your strong enough. You can tell you army of Fuzzles, or Natives to beat them up. Or Abe can possess the enemy and explode him.

Graphics

Like all of the games on X Box, the graphics are extraordinary. When the characters are talking in cut-scenes, their mouths move exactly like that of a human, matching every word perfectly. And in dark rooms, the shadows and textures look very realistic.

Replay Value

If you want to get the most out of this game, you will do it over four times. Because there are four different endings to get. There is the very good ending, the good ending, the bad ending, and the very bad ending. Which ending you get all depends on your Quarma. You earn more Quarma by rescuing more Scrubs, Natives, Fuzzles, and Egg Crates.

Overall Fun Factor

This game is very fun for fans of the series, or people who are new to it. It contains twenty levels that are jam-packed with enemies, obstacles, puzzles, and everything that you need to create a quality game. The only flaw is that the game seems too short for those gamers who are more experienced. Other than that, this game is a great game to add to your collection and I would recommend it to anyone who is into puzzle and action games. Although many gamers who aren't into those kind of games would probably enjoy this game also!

9/10
