- Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater started out as a great game for the Playstation and the Nintendo 64. It made a comeback with Tony Hawk 2, but it had some flaws. Tony Hawk 3 has gone back to the format of Tony Hawk 1 and will probably be the greatest sk8bording (skateboarding) game of all time. You can choose from many skaters, make your own skater or skate park, and much much more.

Graphics: 10/10
I was astounded by well detailed the graphics were. The characters are so good that 85% of the time, they look real, which is better than the 20% or so on the Nintendo 64. Why only 85%? The created skaters don't always look real. Why only 20% for the N64? The characters tended to be polygonal. The skateboard tricks are great! They are complete and don't freeze up halfway. The graphics are superb, though somtimes the camera gets in the way. The blood, although tends to be circular on the floor, is a great addition.

Sound/Music: 10/10
I enjoyed the sound about as much as the graphics. You could hear the skateboard with great rhythm, although it mighty aggrevate some. The music is better than the previous 2 games combined. There's more variety in music, and you can at least choose which ones you want on or off. The Jumps also sound good, and you can't hear the board during them. The sound is well-balanced, and the music is superb, to sum it up.

Characters: 10/10
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater wouldn't be complete without a great set of characters to choose from. There are 13 great skateboarders to choose from. They are: Tony Hawk (obviously), Steve Cabarello, Kareem Campbell, Rune Gilfberg, Eric Koston, Bucky Lasek, Bam Margera, Rodney Mullen, Chad Muska, Andrew Reynolds, Geoff Rowley, Elissa Steamer, and Jamie Thomas. Most of these you're probably familiar with. That is not all though. You can also create a skater, just like in Tony Hawk 2. You don't have to pay for stats this time though. Tony Hawk 3's characters are simply great.

Control: 8/10
Although an 8 is pretty good, it is basically Tony Hawk's only slight weak spot. It is easy to navigate around the menus, but the park isn't that good. It's not easy to corner, and the camera gets in the way often. The good thins is that you can change the camera. The button commands are fine, and you can change them if you must. Although not the best factor, the control still is good.

Gameplay: 20/20
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater has so many things that you can do. It has the classic 1 player mode where you must find the tape, collect S-K-A-T-E, do a high/pro/sick score, etc. The Single Session / Free Skate hasn't changed much either. Multiplayer, however how has King of the Hill added, which is where you find the crown, put it on, and the other person has to take it from you, in addition to HORSE and single session / free skate. Creating a Skate park is just as easy as before. Create-a-skater mode works wonders, as you have many variables to work with. There is so much you can do, that it would take me another review to explain it in depth.
To sum it up, this is probably Tony Hawk's strongest point.
-
Replayability: 5/5
The replayability for Tony Hawk is very high. All the new (and old) multiplayer modes, such as King of the Hill and Free Skate give it a great boost. Also, for career mode, you can unlock new decks and stat points in addition to the objectives. If you unlock all the characters and cheats, this game can be one of those that you'll play for a LONG time...(Or at least until the next next-gen system comes out.)

Overall: 48/50 = 24/25 = 96%
Tony Hawk's latest game was great. Had it had better control, it would've been perfect. To sum it up in a few words, I can hardly wait for Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4!!!
