Storyline
I've spent more than $100 on this game but never actually been able to figure out the storyline. Well . . . You play a cop (or two cops if you're two players) and you fight criminals. Either you're after some hotshot thief or trying to save someone who's been kidnapped. I'm not really sure . . . But the game takes you through all kinds of places such as subway stations, parks, and streets. If you know the storyline then please tell me.
- Gameplay
I guess I should start by mentioning that this is a lightgun shoot 'em up, or you'll get rather confused if you've never heard of it.
If you play alone this game is totally alright, but nothing spectacular. It tend to get quite boring if you play all by yourself for a long time. The real joy is when you play two people at once. Then it can get really fun. You have to help eachother out in different ways and you often wind up screaming and laughing. To reload just fire outside the screen. That can also be quite fun depending on where the machine is located. I remember the first time I played Virtua Cop 2. The machine was located next to the entrance so every time I had to reload I fired towards the door. I got to see a lot wondering and surprised faces of faces that just opened the door as I fired towards them. A thing I miss is the ability to hide. But the game is pretty old and I guess the hiding feature was added to these kinds of games later than that. Ah well. When you start playing you get to choose from three locations that are very different from eachother. Then after you've chosen there will be 100% action non-stop. Enemies pops up from everywhere and you have to be quick and kill them all. To your help there are circles that shows you where the enemies are and a countdown-thingy that shows how long time you've got to kill them before they shoot you. And you have to watch out so that you don't kill civilians.
- Graphics
The graphics are ok, but nothing to getall excited about. Nice frame rate, ok surroundings, and clear colours and animations. Some of the special effects tend to look rather weird, but apart from that the game has alright graphics.
- Sound
I'm not even sure if this game has music. Haha . . . I guess it does though, but since I haven't noticed it after all of those hours of playing I guess it's nothing special. The sound effects are alright though, but nothing to yay over.
- Replayability
The replayability of this game is great, and it has to be since gameplay and replayability are the two most important features for an arcade game. You will probably spend a lot of money on this game as long as you have someone to play with and even if you have completed all the stages you can still play them again. It will probably take quite a while for you to beat all the stages though . . . But you can retry over and over again 'cause you just HAVE to get further than the last time you played.
- Originality
The game was quite original when it was released, but not really groundbreaking or anything. Ok originality I guess.
- Overall
This is a great game if you're two people who're playing. Ok for a short while if you're alone. If you like lightgun shoot 'em ups you have to try this game. Ok sound effects, nice graphics, and great replayability. Take me for an example . . . I've spent more than $100 on this game. Yay!
